Continuation of the story..

…I froze when I heard his ringtone— the one only I used when calling him. The screen said, “Unknown Caller,” but the ringtone was unmistakable.

With trembling hands, I answered.

A voice, low and urgent, said, “Don’t go to the hotel. You’re being watched.”
Before I could respond, the line went dead.

My heart pounded. I debated turning around, but curiosity and fear pushed me forward. When I got to the hotel, I saw his name on the check-in list.

I asked the receptionist who had checked in. She said, “A man who looked just like your husband. He even had his ID.”

I felt the world spin.

Had he faked his death? Was someone using his identity? Or… was something even more unimaginable going on?
